 READ BEFORE APPLYING
« Thread Started on Dec 8, 2007, 4:15am »

New members will need to submit an official application to become a member of this forum.

We ask that you follow the words written below closely. They are in place to help you create a fun and enjoyable character.

The Roleplaying that we do here does not use statistics and dice to create a character. To make things more unique every person must go through a process of filling out and submitting an Application. That is what I will show you how to do.

Your first step must be to review carefully, not only the current events of the game, but also the Out of Character (OOC) information set up by the administrator. It will enable you to create a unique, high quality, and intriguing character. Later on down the road it will save you and the administration a lot of time as well.

Secondly you must go over the application and begin to brainstorm about your character. A good idea is to read over other member's applications in order to get a good idea as to what has already been done before. That way you're not doubling up on your background or personality traits. It's always good to go for something original.

Thirdly comes filling out the application. This is one of the most tedious phases to applying. Now that you have a good knowledge of what's going on, you can put your ideas down on paper. Be advised if the administrator is not satisfied with something, it could change, so keep an open mind. Most people would advise you to have a detailed biography for your character but that is not the case. The most important thing is your personality traits, habits, etc. These aid others in getting to know your character and how their characters will interact with yours. You can always add more to a biography in the future as new ideas come to you. You will also find that the more you play your character the more he/she will be developed in personality as well. Since we try to keep this as lifelike as possible development is also very essential. Everybody in time changes, people grow as they experience trials and hardships. It is the same with your character. If you create a character that has no space to flourish, there is no point in creating one at all.

Which brings us to another point, your character cannot be a god. Like real people your character must also have weaknesses, flaws, downsides. Do you chew your nails? Are you not the best at math? Your character is the same way. He may excel in mechanics but be unable to keep a plant alive to save himself or visa versa. Whatever his weak and strong points, these too help define him/her.

Now, as you can see, this is indeed a treacherous process, even though it may seem short and simple. It is not. But, with great care and consideration you can create something that is simply extraordinary. You can create a character that cries, that sleeps, that loves and hates. There are many grand things about Roleplaying, and I believe the creation and growth process of a being is the most rewarding of all.

Once again, please keep an open mind, as Administration will be going over your application to help perfect it.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
We request that you know how to write, punctuate, and spell when it comes to the actual RP. This will really help the flow of the story. If you are not good at spelling or grammar I highly suggest you first type your RP posts in a Word Document so it can be spell and grammer checked, then copy and paste it to the board. If you failed English class, I suggest you don't apply, it will save us all time.
